Fall Weather (and wind) is upon us!

As the majority of tourists have left the Outer Banks for the year, the fall has slowly began to roll in. With one of the warmer September's in recent memory on the way out the door, we prepare for October and November when the wind ramps up and the temperature cools down. Experienced Outer Banks kiteboarders know that this is the time to get down to Waves Village! There's plenty of room to set up your gear, fly your kite, and ride. The shallow water makes for a great "terrain park" like atmosphere you find at Ski Resorts around the country. This allows for nearly consequence-free experimentation with jumps and tricks because you don't have to worry about not being able to stand, and there are no currents or waves that will pull you around or tire you out. Book your stay at our luxury condos that are right on the water and have everything a kiteboarder could want!

Our spring Hatteras trip gets extended!

The day before we were leaving our house in Avon we checked the forecast and the winds looked very good for the day we were to leave. Being new to kiting we thought we would stay and keep building on our kiting skills for just one more day. We needed to buy another kite board along with some other gear so we headed off to Kitty Hawk Kites Resort in Waves Village and this friendly and very knowledgeable sales guy, Will, sold us some goods! He then went on to tell us all about the condo units that are available for rent by the week, partial week, etc, right there at Kitty Hawk Kites. So, he hooked us up with Marcus, Waves Village Manager, who was very professional and accommodating, and he showed us a few different units to choose from. We found one we liked so we booked a unit in the complex for 2 nights. Well, we loved it so much, after a few phone calls to rearrange things back home, we decided to stay for a few more days. During our stay, the staff at Kitty Hawk Kites Resort was extremely helpful and accommodating, in particular, the Kite School Manager A.J. He gave us some very helpful kiting tips, helped and taught us how to land and launch our kites properly, he came out on his jet ski to check on us throughout the day. When our day was done and we were all exhausted from kiting, we would head up to our awesome 'sound view' condo, grab a beer, jump in the hot tub, and watch the Staff head out on their kites and put on a real show! Man, can they kite! Now, thanks to our good friends Will, Marcus, and A.J., we are all going home very happy and confident kiters!

See you all next spring:)

Happy Guest Testimonial

"My family and I stayed at the Waves Village Resort for 7 nights over Spring Break 2010. We had such a great time we did not want to leave! Our 3 bedroom Condo was spacious and beautifully appointed with the latest amenities. Large sliding glass doors and a beautiful balcony provided breath taking views of the Sound --- especially at sunset. The Resort condos are co-located with the Kitty Hawk Kites Store and Kiteboard shop. The personalized service provided by the friendly KHK Staff was superb -- they really made us feel like family. Located in Rodanthe, on the Sound side, the Condos are just across the street from the Rodanthe Pier Beach and only minutes away from restaurants, groceries, gas, and other conveniences. We spent time playing at the beach; kiteboarding and paddleboarding on the sound; and relaxing in our wonderful condo. It was a great vacation! We can't wait to go back!"

Play Hard at Waves Village!

If "Work Hard, Play Hard" is your motto, then it's time to play! The wind is here to stay for a while. It's currently blowing SSW at 20 mph on average and not letting up in the foreseeable future. We are also experiencing record temperature highs for the season if you're into that sort of thing. There's not a cloud in the sky, so meet us down here for a kite session. You won't regret it. If you're not into kite boarding, we have plenty of other water sports to choose from. See you out on the water!

Last summer I visited Kitty Hawk Kites in Rodanthe and saw the construction of the new Waves Village. This year when looking for a place to stay during spring break, I decided to call and stay at the new Waves Village Resort. We have three kids and this place has been awesome for all of us. The accommodations are incredible and the furnishings are top notch. Marcus and the staff at Waves Village and Kitty Hawk Kites have been so helpful and gone out of their way to make sure our stay was unforgettable. Being a surfer, kiter, and all around lover of all things ocean, this place lets me do everything I love! The sunsets are breath taking and I highly recommend Waves Village!
